CSL Supports #HopeforHannah

Who is Hannah?

Hannah Goetz is a vibrant and fun loving young lady that has been a part of the CSL soccer family for over 12 years. She loves to live life to the fullest each day! Her smile and her laugh can light up a room! She has been U18 Inferno's steadfast goalie for several seasons, and is well loved by her teammates.

Hannah is in the fight for her life right now! Hannah was born with Cystic Fibrosis and was diagnosed with this debilitating lung disease at 10 years old. Hannah did not make excuses or let this hold her back. She comes out for every game ready to play. Her latest game was this June for sand soccer.

She was hospitalized 2 weeks ago with the flu, pneumonia, and developed an infection in her blood. She has been hospitalized several times over the years to adjust her oxygen levels. This time was different. Her health declined so fast, and she was put on life support within a few days. She was transported to a Fairfax hospital, where they determined that her lungs needed to be removed, because they were working against her body. Hannah had her lungs removed, before a donor recipient has been found. This is the first time this has happened at this hospital. She has been placed at the top of the donor list and is surrounded by a very competent medical team. They have opened up the mile radius, so that it includes the entire country. They have reduced the sedatives, so she is starting to respond to commands! Thank goodness, and we continue to pray that she gets her new lungs today! Time is of the essence.

She is a fighter, so through prayers and our support, she is going to get a new re-lease on life. Once a member of CSL, you become part of our soccer family! There are several fundraising events that are planned to support our dear Hannah and her amazing family. You will see our soccer family showing their support in purple throughout the season.

UPDATE: A pair of lungs were located July 25th, 2019 and the transplant surgery was successful July 26th. Hannah is still being monitored closely for any problems. Continue to keep her and her family in your prayers as well as the family of the donor.

Our first event is a raffle for a CSL cooler of great items. All of the proceeds from the raffle will be donated to #HOPEFORHANNAH to cover her medical expenses. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased most nights from the concession stand at Churchland Soccer fields. Tickets are $2 for 1 or 3 for $5. We will post dates of ticket sales on our social media pages(Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram)
The drawing was held on September 7th, 2019, during our opening day #HOPEFORHANNAH event.

Fundraising Update: Thank you for supporting our fundraising effort. We were able to present Hannah and her family with a check for $1500.

2020 Spring: We are happy to report  that Hannah has returned to the pitch. Keep her in your prayers as she play this season.

Fundraising Update: 2023 Spring - Unfortunately Hannah is back at INOVA. Her body is rejecting her lungs. She is now going thru testing with hope to go back on the transplant list. We are now taking donations for Hannah and her family at the concession stand and wearing purple soccer socks and bracelets to show our support thru the end of our Recreation season.
