The Advanced soccer program was created as an alternative for players who want to remain in recreational soccer but play at a higher level of competition. CSL advanced teams compete in the Tidewater Advanced Soccer League (TASL) and play other advanced teams from soccer programs in the local area and play on average 8 Saturday games.  Advanced games are played in the Tidewater area, with the furtherest possible games in Elizabeth City and Williamsburg, depending on the division your child's team is playing in. Advanced soccer provides a player a good first competitive challenge and provides the player the opportunity to develop his/her soccer skills. Advanced soccer can serve as a stepping-stone for players to achieve the skills and understanding of the game necessary to play at the travel/select level.

Travel/Select has returned to Churchland. Travel teams complete in National Premier Leagues (NPL) and play other Travel Teams of soccer clubs in our local area, Northern Virginia, and Northeastern North Carolina. Teams will play up to 8 games each season on either Saturdays or Sundays.

Advanced and Travel teams are chosen for a Soccer year, Fall and Spring seasons. Practices are 2 days a week for 90 minutes. Fall season starts usually after Labor Day and ends before Thanksgiving, with Columbus Day weekend off. Spring season usually starts before Easter and ends before Memorial day, with Easter weekend  off. 

When a player is chosen, through our Assessment and Placement process, for one of our Advanced or Travel teams one of the requirements is that they attend all of the training sessions and any events the team is scheduled to participate.  We understand there may be extenuating situations when a player cannot attend, but the goal is to participate in every event being a member of a CSL team and its supplemental program offerings. This includes but is not limited to all games, tournaments, and training and the associated financial costs which may include but is not limited to: 
Uniform (the Official CSL uniform)
Warm ups (the Official CSL warm up gear) 
Team bag (if desired by the team)
Additional training uniform (as desired by the team) 
Outside Tournaments (as planned)
